Why this shape
A slotted block hides its slots — you cannot see whether the last knife went back wet, and the slot scrapes the edge every time it goes in and out. A magnetic face solves both: the blade rests flat against the surface, the edge touches nothing, and the whole rack dries in the open air. Bamboo is the practical body because it is hard enough not to dent under a heavy cleaver but soft enough that it will not chip a blade that swings into it.
- Good for
- Counter storage for up to ten knives, and any kitchen where a slotted block never seems to dry out.
- Not for
- A household with small children at counter height — every edge is exposed by design.
- Care
- Wipe the bamboo down and let knives dry fully before they go back on. Oil the wood occasionally the way you would a board.
