ThermoWorks DOT Simple Alarm Thermometer

Hold a probe inside a roast and beep when it hits one set temperature — no timer, no high/low band, no second channel, just the alarm the cook asked for.

Why this shape

DOT is the smallest and simplest leave-in ThermoWorks makes — a single-channel alarm only, no count-up-and-down timer or dual probes the ChefAlarm carries, so the face has two buttons and a magnetic back, and the cook sets a target temperature and walks away. The Pro-Series stainless probe sits through a 4.5-inch shaft with a 47-inch silicone-jacketed cable rated to 700°F, so the cable survives a closed grill or oven lid and the body stays outside the heat. A NIST-traceable calibration certificate ships in the box, and the IP65 splash-resistant housing wipes clean with a damp cloth. The 70-decibel alarm is quieter than the ChefAlarm's 92dB, so it is meant for a kitchen with ambient dish-and-pan noise rather than a loud smoker pit, and the count-up battery life on two AAA batteries runs to 5,000 hours — about a year of daily use.

Good for
Oven roasts where the cook sets one temperature and waits; proofing dough held to a target warm-box temperature; milk pasteurization at home; holding a sugar syrup at a target temperature for a set duration; sous-vide-style cooks where a high-heat alarm prevents over-run.
Not for
Smoker cooks where the cook wants to monitor pit temperature separately from the meat — DOT is single-channel and cannot read two probes. Reach for the ChefAlarm or Signals candidate recorded nearby for that.
Care
IP65 splash-resistant housing (excluding probe connector). Wipe clean with a damp cloth, do not submerge. The Pro-Series probe and silicone-jacketed cable are oven and grill safe to 700°F; the body stays outside the heat. ThermoWorks publishes this verbatim on the product page.
